Cebu hosts VisMin exhibits for innovative products, solutions in manufacturing, hospitality sectors

Businesses in the manufacturing and hospitality sectors can check out the innovative products and solutions at the VisMin Hotel & Good Service Suppliers Show and the VisMin Printing, Packaging & Plastic Show 2024.

Organized by Global-link MP, the two major exhibitions are being held from July 18 – 20, 2024 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Lahug.

Home to premier business hubs in the Philippines, Cebu is a leading market for business enterprises and investment opportunities.

VisMin Printing, Packaging & Plastics Show 2024 is the leading trade show for companies and brands in these sectors to present their newest innovations in goods, services, and technology.

Inspired by the Manila Printing, Packaging & Plastics Show that first opened its doors in 2007, the show started in Cebu 13 years ago.

Meanwhile, the VisMin Hotel & Foodservice Suppliers Show which started in 2008, is designed to present ongoers with the opportunity to explore and discover the leading hotel, restaurant, resort supplies and software.

Both shows capture the attention of business leaders, industry experts and professionals, and potential buyers.

Mr. Patrick Lawrence Tan CEO of Global-Link MP talked about the goals of the grand exhibitions.

“Global Link’s goal is to promote trade and to link people together. I think this one is a very unique event where we put together manufacturing and hospitality, two industries very important to Cebu but more important to the country to develop, to become world class. And you can see through the show how this symbiotic relationship between these industries actually works very well for the local market,” Tan said in an interview.

The organizers have prepared six industry talks happening simultaneously with the expo.

Tan explained that the discussions seek to cater to the needs of the growing market in the Visayas and Mindanao. These talks will tackle major concerns in empowering businesses and individuals hoping to succeed in today’s fast-paced world.

Participants will have multiple networking opportunities to meet colleagues in the sector and discuss possible joint ventures.

“It starts with, of course, a discussion for businessmen to understand more about the changes in taxes, especially the O.R. and the invoicing. We also have the hotel industry doing a tourism summit. And one of the speakers we flew in is Charlie. Charlie is focusing on supply chain, another area where we’re sort of weak in terms of expense management. And then there are product presentations on various technologies, in plastics, in packaging, in printing,” Tan explained.

He added that the organizers designed the event to provide the market an access to essential resources and dynamic solutions.

The plastics and packaging industries call to sustainability is among the key remarks of Mr. Benjamin Chua, President of the Philippine Plastics Industries Association.

“For us, to showcase the innovative processes, the improvements that we are doing to be sustainable. We know that there are a lot of questions regarding the sustainability of our products. So, we want the people, the public to understand it better.”

Chua stated that the use of resins to increase product recycling is currently receiving increasing attention from the plastic and packaging industries.

The three-day event is supported by the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

CCCI President Jay Y. Yuvallos stressed the interconnectedness brought by the event and its role in developing Cebu’s global competitiveness which are essential in building world class talents and businesses.

“The contribution of everyone – suppliers, service providers, and your investment for Cebu will have a long-lasting impact towards making our community world class. May it go well and come back alive,” Yuvallos said.

Hotel Resort & Restaurant Association Cebu (HRRAC) President Alfred Reyes considers the shows as one-stop shops for hoteliers, suppliers, restaurant owners, exhibitors, and brand clients.

“This is a very good show for us, especially for the hospitality industry. Why? Because we don’t have to go to Manila. So they’re bringing in here the products that are normally exposed only in Manila,” Reyes explained.

Reyes shared an insight to the current state of Cebu’s hotel industry after the pandemic. He disclosed that the industry is getting better, especially with the MICE market as its key clientele.
